Eko and Dakon wood boilers?

While looking for an efficient alternative to an outdoor wood furnace I came across a couple of brands, EKO and DAKON, which use woodstove technology and have C.S.A. ratings for indoor use. The idea would be to install one of these with a masonry chimney in a garage or woodshed, then pump the water into the two houses I plan to heat.

EKO sells one model on eBay. Their contact person claimed that they sell their furnaces direct to the customers, rather than through a dealer network.

At around $4000 USD for a mid-sized boiler, these units sound interesting. Has anybody had any experience, positive or negative, with them?

From Chekoslovacia (sp - sorry....) it looks like? The Dakon unit sounds a lot like the olderthan me Crane unit that was the sole heat of the house for many years. Finally cracked 2 years ago. No frills, not terribly efficient - if it is just like what I had.

For the money, a Harman would be a better known brand, with a wider dealer base & presence in the USA.....

I didn't like gassification models, typically very small fireboxes (need to make toothpicks for firewood!) and are very fussy to have only good wood. No paper, etc. stuff. Not as fussy as catalytic stoves of course.

Sure would want to know more data than they provide to buy such a major item?

Thanks for the tip about Harman. There are two dealers near me. I'll go to the shop and have a look.

I have a lot to learn about boilers before next fall, by which time I plan to have one installed, so I'll be looking for input. In the meantime I plan to cut my wood at 16" and fairly small in diameter. Bigger blocks save time but they are pretty heavy for the fair gender to lift. (Lazy grin here).
