i bought this 99 chev and sure wish it had manual window openers..seems lately they won't work. once the cab heats up an hour then maybe they'll unstick...anybody got tricks to keep them unfroze? doesn't seem like the power reg has much strength... also, my windshield washer freezes or has been froze from the get go of winter...i have winter washer fluid...any ideas? and what fluid do you guys use...sorry for my silly questions, but i've never really had these issues with any of the gazillion other vehicles i've owned..... ...

I'm assuming by your description that the window motors are weak and the windows are not actually freezing. I've got five GM trucks - from 1983 to 1993 and they all have done it. First the windows would get slow, then slower, then they would only work with the engine running - not with just the key on. That's because with the engine running they're getting an extra two volts. When they finally get so they won't hardly work at all, especially in cold weather - I take them apart and fix them. They all had the same problem. Moisture and brush dust gets on the armature of the window motor. I just take them apart, clean it, put it back together and it works like new. Vehicles that sit outside all the time get it the worst.

As mentioned spray silicone on the window to felt edges will help. When you park the truck,a trick is to leave one window down an 1/8".This will dry out the humidity in the vehicle. Also, the blue washer solvent doesn't work too good in extreme cold.I use de-icer(I think Prestone makes it)in the gallon jugs.~brad

I have a 90 chev. surburban that the windows freeze in the first cold snap each year. I have found that lowering the windows then spraying silicone spray on the sealing edges, then raising the windows a couple of times solves the problems until the silicone wears off - a couple of months. Silicone sprayed on the door seals also helps keep the doors from freezing shut. I hope this helps you.

Never owned anything as new as a '99, but if the washer motor runs, I will bet that the spray nozzles are froze up. Pour half a gallon of hot water over them and see if that helps.

chev never did have strong motors, you may need to replace them. first try taking the panels off and cleaning everything including the glass. Then use some thin lithium grease on the runners. I would do all this then replace the motors if its still bad.
Wiper fluid probably had some cheap brand or water in it when you put in winter mix and deluted it to much, thaw it out and get some concentrate and put in it and run it until it purges good
