Ok fellas got a dilemma.

You see, I am workin' on the Christmas list, and have figued out that it is time for a compressor, finish and brad nailers.

That isn't the problem though. See, Ive narrowed it down to two sets. One is from Porter Cable, and the other is from Bostitch. I have used the Bostitch before, because a friend of mine has the same set. Love the features of it, but I havent ever owned anything Porter Cable (like Milwaukee better), much less used this set.

Need an opinion from yall on the matter. Heres the link to each.

Porter Cable Set

Hopefully, I didn't screw up the HTML code too bad.

Thanks, JohnDeereGreen

Where I'm a shop teacher, our PC stuff has done better than the Bostich. No one is harder on tools then students who don't have to pay to fix them!
I also have the PC finish gun for myself. I love it.
Buy PC.

There is a good chance I will get laughed at for this by others in the trade but. . .

If all you are going to use the compressor for is finish nailing I have another suggestion. My father and I have worked in the construction field for a long time together. One thing we always got tired of was lugging the big compressor (6 gallon) up stairs and all over to run the finish nailers. To top that off we would always be rewarded with the sound of it making us deaf as the sound bounced off all the walls. One day when we were in Walmart of all places I spied the solution to our problems in the clearance aisle. For 60 bucks we picked up a cheap 2 gallon compressor by Campbell Hausfeld called the Quiet Air. We figured it was worth a shot and at 60 bucks wasn't too much to lose. We absolutely love it and have yet to kill it. The thing is small enough to fit on a stair and light enough to take anywhere. I wouldn't run a framer with it but for all our finish work it is the chosen machine.

Hey JDG,
I've been using porter Cable tools for years now... they're as good as it gets! As far as the nailers, I have a PC framer (FR350)... couldn't tell ya how many CASES of nails it's fired... never had so much as a nail jam. At work, I've used just about every nailer & stapler that PC makes... never had a problem. Having said that, you need to understand that there are about 4 or 5 factories in the world that manufacture nailers and label them for various companies. While I wouldn't go buy one from Harbor Freight, the name brand nailers are essentially equal (if not identical) so it makes sense to look at price. Senco, Bostitch, Paslode and others have been selling nailers for a long time and rely on their name to keep their prices high. Fact is, there are any of number of excellent nailers on the market at bargain prices. Porter Cable tools also have an excellent warranty... an important consideration should you have a problem. I've also used the PC pancake and dual tank compressors... they work well... never had a problem there either! HTH
Regards, DL

Most of my air nailers (finish and rough) are either Bostich or Porter Cable. You can't go wrong with either if you ask me. I do have some Senco as well. There are some other premium brands out there as well, but the two that you're looking at are about as good as they get. It's a toss up if you ask me, and cost about the same. Enjoy, use them in good health. Don't forget the Marvel oil too.

Mark
