OT GMC Suburban Door Locks

My electric door locks on my 95 suburban are starting to act up. Only the drivers door opens. The other three doors act like they want to open by the lock lever moving slightly but as if the do not have enough power to open all the way. Any Suggestions? Thanks.

I've got a 1994 Chevy pickup, without too many miles. However, the last couple of years, the grease in the door lock mechanisms has gotten so stiff and sticky the power locks don't have enough power to get the job done when it's cold.

If it's cold where you are you may be having the same problem.

I hate to break ya heart but ya needs to replace the door lock actuators in all the doors, Ya may git by on the drivers door but its in yer future, its not unusual to havta replac'em all. Why did they fail, low bidder got the contract. It may be possibe one izz short'in out and muckin up the utters only way to fine out it to start replacin'em

I worked on one about 5 years ago that had the same problem and I remember it was a broken wire in the harness. It is difficult to remember the exact details. You might browse the iternet for the problem.

Don,

We have a '95 diesel that does the same thing. I found that the wiring harness was chafed as it came through the rear doors, but never have gotten around to fixing it. Too many other things right now. I'll check out the linkages one day too and I kinda figured there might be a TSB on the issue too.

Kind of a PITA, but you may need to blow the linkages off with air and apply a little lube on the linkage's. Sometimes they just get gummed up with dust and such.

MAC,IL is right. All the Chevy Subs that Iv'e owned (72, 80, 87, and 90) have had the grease stiffen in the passenger door lock mechanism. Seems like the grease reacts with the pot metal innards and swells up when they aren't being used regularly. The driver door never had a problem, even though it gets used prolly 20 times as much. Still a PITA to fix, as the door panel has to come out.
