I have a couple of wood rasps that are starting to wear down abit, should they go the antique route and hang on a wall or is there a way to sharpen them up and extend their use a little longer. Dan in AB

one of the ways to sharpen a rasp or file is to clean it and soak it in acid, I'm not sure which acid or for how long. Some woodworking mail order companies sell kits to do this. Try googleing woodworkers supply or woodcraft. The acid takes off a small layer of metal so if your rasps are really hammered it probably won't work, but would probably work well if just dull.
