Husquvarna 575XP vs Stihl MS460

Does anyone have an opinion on which of these saws is the better one? (Reliability, ease of maintance, etc.)
I can buy the Husquvarna online for $692, and the Stihl is about $125 more expensive at my dealer here. The Stihl has slightly more power, and has the "Intelli-Carb", which they say compensates for a gradually clogging air filter. Don't know if this is worth $125 though.
Husquvarna has a 2 year warranty, and Stihl has only 3 months.
Since this is, for me anyway, a lot of money to spend on a saw, any opinions are welcome.

I bought a Husquvarna about 3 years ago, and the dealer gave me a Life time warranty, I have talked to others who bought Husk's and the dealer never mentioned a life time warranty, I think it best to talk to the Manufacture just to get the facts....

I have a 575xp, a few 372xps,a 385xp, two 460 Mags and a Dolmar 7900. I`ve got this class pretty well covered. If I were going to buy another in this class it would be in descending order the 372, 7900, 460, 385 and finally the 575.

The Dolmar is very good quality and it has a better power to weight ratio than the 372 but it is no better a saw than the 372, or any of the others in this class for that matter. All of these saws are excellent in terms of quality although they have all had thier initial bugs. All of the saws mentioned with the exception of the 575 have been out long enough to be sure that the earlier examples should be long gone by now. If you decide to get a 575, make sure that it is current stock since some of the earlier ones had crank bearing issues.

If you are not capable or willing to do you own maintenace and reairs, shop for the best quality dealer first, brand/price second.

The prices that you mentioned do seem high.

Husky vs Stihl is like Ford/Chebby or green/ red tractors. None of them build the P.O.S. equipment that the jesters crow about but neither is it as good as the paint color bleeders claim. I would go with service over some poster's brand loyalty. I happen to own Stihls. Over the years my Stihl saws have given me no reason to look at other makes and I have an excellent dealer close, but you cant go too wrong with a XP Husky.

the shop i work at new used to be a husq. dealer now sthil dealer. sthil seems to make parts for longer then husq. about 3 years and the parts were obsolete. sthil 5-7 years can easily find parts. i like jonsered personally. sthil woudl be my choice over yoru 2.

I would not buy either, Dolmar probably makes the best chain saw I have ever used. You can buy a Dolmar equiv to the MS460 Stihl for about $725.00 depending on the bar you get and you will not find a better saw for the money. Stihl uses too much plastic for me anymore.
