Antifreeze in oil-What does it do to motor?

I think a seal in our JD-450 bulldozer blew and antifreeze (probably more than less) got into the engine oil. Does it mean that a motor is ruined if it started running with knocking and strain? What do you do from here?

It looks like I posted this in the wrong section. I moved it to crawlers. Sorry about that.

If you haven't been changing the anti-freeze every few years or havn't added an additive package. The antifreeze has gone acidic and eaten holes through the sleeves. Saving money by not testing the coolant is expensive.

We ha a similar problem on a 350 many years ago and it was electrolysis eating thru the sleeve from the outside. This would probably make the engine smoke some white smoke. Otherwise it could be a bottom sleeve packing, good luck!

Antifreeze does not work the same as oil. It won't take the pressure in the journal bearings. Long term I have heard that a small amount will etch the bearings. The knocking and 'straining' are bad signs. It sounds like you might need new crank and rod bearings for your motor.

I have one tore down now that had anti freeze in it The bearings are eched bad, crank is O.K.The engine had a lot of sludge, but that may not be from the anti freeze.I think I would tear it down,at least pull the bearing caps.
