Hydraulic Cylinder Source

Trying to find a 2" bore single acting hydraulic cylinder. With a 6 or 8 inch stroke. Want to use it to lift logs on a roller system. Tried Nothern Tool(Lion brand) so far no luck. Tried ebay and parker hydraulics. For the cylinder configuration (In case someones interested) the fixed end I'd like a .5 inch pin (or larger) and on the extendig end I'd like a clevis or rod end bearing. Anyone have an online source for Hydraulic Cylinders? Thanks

find a old junk one off a p-up snow plow that they change the direction with this should work for you .

Force America in Fort Dodge Iowa distributes Prince Cylinders. Good service and reasonable price. Have had next day delivery 100 miles away.
Check to see if they have the style and size you want. I got some 2 x 20's for about $110

hi there just a thought i would use the double acting one if you have the source for another line if not if the logs are heavy it will come down very fast and could result in something or someone getting hurt just my 2 cents her ein canada princess auto is a great place to get stuff like that not syre if they ship to you or not check it out www.princessauto.com

Or if you can find a double acting one to your favor put a vent in one end and just use it single acting.

Remote cylinder from an AC WD, etc., or the lift cylinder from same tractor. Both 8 inch stroke, about 2 inches diameter. Will handle up to 3500 psi. Salvage yards should have plenty of lift cylinders.

Bob, that's the one I was going to suggest. I have a brother-in-law who lives close enough to the store that he can visit regularly. He says he feels just a like a kid in a toy store at Christmas time.

Thanks for all the replies one of them should have what I'm looking for. A double acting cylinder can be used as a single acting with addition of a breather cap--right?

Basically the weight of the log will be used to lower the cylinder.

Yes-- double acting- either end: one hose, one vent. You can buy vents with screens, or make a vent with a pipe plug, hole drilled in it, install a cotter key to plug most of the hole- rest lets the air through. OK if no too dusty. Your call.
