Anybody know of the best way to charge an 8v. battery in a vehicle using a battery charger that's equipped to charge either a 6v. or 12v. battery? Which setting best?
Thanks.

Bill I charge my 8 volt battery with my charger on the 6 volt setting, does a fine job. The 12 volt setting will continously cycle as it sees a 6 or 8 volt battery as a 12 volt battery with shorted cells. It will charge the battery enough within 30 minutes to start the tractor.

I use a small wall wart DC adapter (300ma) set on 9volt. I plug it in when the temp drops down below 30 and leave it on till it stabilizes above 30 again. This just keeps the battery warm and a small trickle because on the 9 volt setting its actually putting out about 10.5 volt ripple. Been doing it for several years and it keeps the snow machine starting when I need it.
