Can anyone tell me where I can find a carbon arc torch for my Lincoln AC/DC stick welder? How about price? I've searched the web and can't seem to locate one anywhere. I need to heat stuff occasionally and can't justify a gas setup. Thanks. Matt

I purchased one from the Sears tool catalog about 5 years ago. It was pretty cheesy, (NOT a Craftsman), and I didn't like it. The 2 carbons start to glow red along about 3/4 of their length when its used over a minute or so. Also you can feel the 60hz ac vibrating through the plastic handle! It was only like $30-40, which should explain all of the above. Instead of spending more money for a good one, I'm going to put that towards a decent oxy/acetylene setup. You can use that for everything a carbon arc will do, and of course a lot more. I hope everyone doesn't flame me just because I have a different opinion. If you do use one, remember they really draw the juice, make sure your welders up to it.

Thanks everyone. I was in a Meriam Graves store and they didn't have them. Special order for around $180. I know I've seen them at Harbor Freight or Northern Tool for around $80. Not any more. I'll keep at it.

I'm sure we have them on our site. I think the price is listed but I didn't have time to look.

Just so we're sure we know what we're talking about, there is a twin carbon arc heating torch and also an air arc torch that uses compressed air for gouging. One is for heating and the other is for cutting. The air arc torch will make a small welder commit suicide as it is used at high amperage with lots of compressed air to blow out the kerf and can very easily get past the duty cycle of the welding machine. Once this has happened to a welder, whether it is a generator type (slinging solder) from commutator or a transformer type shop box (shorted windings), it's kinda sudden death playoff after that. Be wise and stay away from this with the smaller type welders or use them well within the duty cycle ratings for gouging and pipe thawing type use. TYLTK L8R----Fred OH

Matt, I was thinking of getting one about 6 months ago. I was told you can order one from any local Lincoln dealer. They run around $60 to $70. I have here a older welders guide from Lincoln and the part num. is L-2645. This is the num. for the complete set. I never could decide whether on not to get one. I'am thinking of getting a gas setup someday. Hope this helps

As a welder,[yes, I make my liveing as a portable welder] working on old rusty equipment would be a lot harder without the arc torch.the ability to blow a gouge along a crack is great! and with all the noise, the customer thinks I'm working hard!

I believe that is referred to as a carbon air arc torch, a little different than a twin carbon arc torch. I have spent many hours with a air arc torch, cutting other peoples screwups apart....
