I have Smith torches in MC and SC series in straight torch, combination torch and template controlled flame cutting machine (Heath Ultragraph), acetylene and propane. They made the Cadillac, in my opinion. They are the fastest cutting torch, kinda like a hot rod, lots of preheat and cutting oxygen. You might think that they would use more gasses that way, but to me, they are very efficient as with some torches-you spend too much time preheating and use up too much gas that way. Not much maintenance, clean or replace tip occasionally and o-rings between torch body and attachments. One thing you can't do (in my opinion) is to buy a better torch than a good quality Smith torch in the MC or SC series. You'll pay more but you know the name of that tune. Kinda like buying a Fender or Gibson guitar or a Fenwick fishing pole. L8R----Fred OH

I have a Smith Cavalier set, which is their light duty torch set. I've been very happy with it. Smith carries a lifetime guarantee on all of their current torches. It's a beautiful torch.

The biggest problem that I see with Smith is that most welding supply houses don't carry them, for whatever reason. I picked mine up two years ago at the EAA Airshow in Oshkosh, WI. The Smith factory reps were there.
