I bought a two ton Pittsburg chainfalls at a swap meet in a box with some other stuff. It is missing the continueous chain, the one you pull on, not the one that actually lifts the load. I have tried quiet a few different chains in stores, and where I work so I would know what to look for in a new chain. Can anyone tell me the dimentions of this chain for this model chainfall?

Thanks, Tom

I have a very old chainfall that is missing the load chain. At one time, I was rebuilding this unit. I have since aquired an electric unit and have no need for the old. I am probably just going to toss it in the trash. If you email me the specs, I'll see if it matches and you can have it for the shipping charges from Long Island, New York.

I doubt if itwould fit. However it is, as close as I can figure, 2" from one link, to the next link that is in the same plane. That is skipping one link. The chainfall is not a very old one I don't think. It is about the size of a large grapefruit. I might be interested in your old one in any case however. How much does it weigh? Some of the old ones were monsters. Especially the larger ones. Thanks for getting back to me anyway.

Pretty sure that the chain you are looking for is a special type chain made to engage sprockets and not normal link type chain. It is possible that your local Overhead Door outfit might have what you need but barring that McMaster Carr or Grainger would have what you need for sure.
Both are online although acrobat pages can take a bit to load

I am starting to look in my McMaster Carr catalog, there are a lot of different chains to sort through and it is hard to be sure. I have tried some on other falls that seem to work at first trial, but when you get the chain all the way around (180 degrees) the wheel the pitch isn't just right. That's why if I knew exactly what this chainfall had it would be easier to look for a chain. Thanks though for your prompt return.
