Need New Compressor Tank

My air compressor tank has just failed. Where can you economically get a replacement tank? My tank appear to be a 30 or 40 gallon tank. I like the compressor which is why I want to get just the tank. Thanks.

Your cheapest dollar outlay would be for a used tank that had burned up its compressor.

I took two 100 pound propane tanks, stood them upright, took a piece of 12 gauge hot rolled and cut holes in it to fit over the bosses where the caps go, cut the threaded portion off of the caps (to use them like a nut and tightened them down with a chisel). The 12 gauge was also formed into a U shape, so that I could cut the compressor and motor platform from the old tank and bolt it to the new fabrication. I should mention that I figured out the plumbing first, as that determined the distance apart that the tanks would be. (put a union in the line between the tanks) Now that I try to describe it, I guess that it took a fair amount of fabrication. Didn"t seem like that much work at the time. Ed

Grainger may not be the lowest priced source, but they do have good selection of readily-available tanks.
