Looking through the latest Harbor Freight catalog I see a 5400# losd binder(lot #36022) normally $25 on sale for half price. Anyone have experience with these? I would be using them to tie down my DC CASE or smaller tractors. I'm not trying to strike up controversy. Reastically I would probably be using the binders 3-4x/year. Hate to have much money tied up. Thanks, Glenn F.

Are those the ratchet type binders ? If so I have used them and they are fine. If they are the flop over center type don't buy them get the ratchet ones.

use them all the time, I buy them for the oppposite reason though, always using them = always losing them. You will be okay with them

Thank you for your responses. I understand it is best to have the tractor chained with four chains. Should a person have two binders or four? I have seen two used by simply pulling the two front chains together to tighten them and the two rear ones the same. Thanks, Glenn F.

Two front chains pulled together with one binder do not equal the strength of one binder on each chain. It's always best to pull straight.

You can use two binders if the load is free to move when you take up on the two binders. Chain the load evenly with two chains only and binder the other two chains. The unbindered chains would go on the rear of the load. I usually use four binders as I think I can control the tension better. I also have some ball bungees that I tie the handles down with. Anything that lessens the chance of having a load come use is good in my book.
