Oiler on Homelite XL12

The manual oiler on my XL12 quite working. I have pulled both check valves apart, and the oil pickup tube/filter, all lines are clear ... and still get no pressure when pumping. So, I have ordered 2 new check valves, a new pickup hose, new plunger, o-ring and spring.

1) Can anyone think of anything else to look at and or replace?

And the most important question:

2) How in the heck do I get the old plunger out? It looks like it would have to pull straight up ... but that doesn"t make sense (seams like it would keep falling out).

If I remember correctly you should see a [very small] drift pin that holds down the plunger rod. I usually just change out the O-ring and then run a mix of kerosene and marvel mystery oil through the pump to clean things out. We use old diesel motor oil for chain oil. Still using the same saws (bow and bar types) since '78.

Thanks for the info Kevin. You are correct and I found the pin. IT was half hidden under the removable have of the grip.
