I'm in the market for a pressure washer. I really don't need another 4 cycle engine to maintain. Anybody have any input: makes, models, psi, gpm? I'm not planning any heavy duty work with it. Thanks

If going electric count on a installing at least a #10 AWG cable from the breaker panel and a 30A 240 plug. Any electric washer under 3HP is a toy and 5HP is much better. No body ever had a HP washer with too much power. Get a washer with the three piston ceramic pump. You can feed them hot water right off the household tap. That hight pressure, hot water, a little soap and grease will roll right off. Cold water with a small machine is just wasting your time & $$$.

A little 623 cat pump and a 5 hp motor would do him great and these are great little pumps and the best thing is that you can mount pump inside building or basement and just have a quik coupler out side ,and then he could keep a couple of injectors for soap and degreaser . and have a switch like a car wash . I have about 15 of these cats pumps and I never have a problem unless they get starved for water ,but it's simple to replace the pistons and cups and cheap to .

Reminds me of being in the Army. We were the pressure washers after bringing the stuff in from the mud for a month. Hookup a 4" fire hose to a hygrant with a 1.5" nozzle and have someone open up the hydrant. Controlling that hose without getting flattened or knocked out cold by the nozzle was a workout that I could still use from time to time. LOL.

Most, if not all newer electric units have a GFI cord, because of the electrocution risk from water and electricity, so if you get a used unit, be sure it is so equipped, and electrically sound.

I believe there have been a number of people sent for a dirt nap by the older units.

I have had both gas and electric, one nice thing about the gas models is that they can be throttled down a bit for jobs when the full pressure an flow rating are not needed (and would damage something), such as cleaning a radiator without folding the fins over.

Most any of the little electrics will fit the bill. I have a little Karch 1400psi and it does about all I want it to do. Actually, I like it better than my big gas job...I don't blast stuff apart by accident and it still does nice, nice. Less than a $100

You can plan on getting a pretty light duty unit. You can only get so much flow and pressure with a 15amp 110volt circuit.

I have/had one of the little 1300psi ones, did a good job till I let my brother use it. He smoked the motor on it. It was like one you get at wal-mart but I got it from a 2nds place so I guess I got my $60 worth from it. Biggest problem it water and zap-u-trons don't mix well. LOL
