So sorry for the misprint. I said electric torqus wrench and I should have said electric impact wrench. It's been one of those days. Anyway, thanks for your information, even though I can't get my thoughts straight. How much torque do I need from an electric impact wrench????

Oh thats different.At work we have a Dewalt and a Milwaukee and its seems the tool hoarders always go for the Milwaukee.Im not so sure they are torquing to as high a spec as they say.They are only used with a nut and bolt but when I put hand tools on it seems I can still get a little more tight with the breaker bar.They do speed things up alot.

I have a makita 3/8" cordless (12V) that I absolutely love. I bought a small set of impact sockets and it goes with me everywhere. I understand that it is limited, but it handles an awful lot of wrench turning and has lasted for two years of fairly constant use.

I have Black Decker units that I have always used to do grain bin erection with. No longer do that as of last season so i have one of them for sale if you would be interested.

Hard to have too much impact wrench. (Unless you are using it to assemble with which is not a good idea anyway.) I have a Dewalt 3/4 drive that is a heck of a tool. I believe it is rated at 450 ft./lb. It will take most any nut or bolt off. Bought it at a pawn shop for $150. Great place to buy tools.

A good quality 1/2 drive electric impact will do all you probably want to do. I have had and used a variable speed Craftsman for about 35 years now and still find that it will bust loose things the air impact will not.

Dewalt has two, 240 ft/lbs and 300 ft/lbs
Chicago Pneumatic has one, 300 ft/lbs
Hitachi has one, 217 ft/lbs
Mikata has one, also 217 ft/lbs
Milwaukee has one, 300 ft/lbs
Porter-Cable has one, 265ft/lbs (pricey, probably a good tool)
Ingersoll-Rand has two, one 290 ft/lb and one 330ft/lb (real pricey at almost $700)
ATD tools (china made???) has one, 240 ft/lbs

This from a quick Google search.

Most of these mfgs also all have 3/4 drive electrics.

Me, I'd probably buy the 300 ft/lb Milwaukee and enjoy it, if I had to do it nowdays.
