Plumbing soldering question

I am running a water line for a laundy tub. I am attaching to a 1/2 inch galvanized line and the new line will be 1/2 imch copper.

I have a di-electric union to make the transition from the dis-similar metals.

My questions is: Can I just sweat the bronze bushing on the union to the copper pipe, or is there a special process to sweat bronze to copper? I've sweated pipes a few times in the past, but never dealt with di-electric union.

No, there's nothing special about soldering copper to brass. Just take the union apart before soldering so you don't melt the plastic part(s) of it.

Make sure that the union nut and the plastic washer are assembled on the copper pipe in the right order before the flange fitting is sweated on. Tape or wire them well away from the heat of the soldered joint.

I installed the laundry tub last night and everything worked the first time!! No leaks!!
