The previous owner removed all the fiberglass insulation from under a house trailer. I am looking for options as to how to reinsulate now.I dont like the fact that the fiberglass would be itchy side down and to replace thebottom piece of black material in one piece is now impossible because the steel frame is now in the way. The floor joists are 2x6s. Ridgid and spray foam come to mind. Also how to get a good vapor barrier in place are what I am thinking about. THANKS.

hi, put paper side towards inside only. it acts like a vapor shield that way but you still need to put black 6 mil plastic down on the ground to act as a favor barrier. the wires can be bought pre cut in a box of 250 i think. it may be just a hundred. i like to bend cloth hanger wire up in a horse shoe and jab it in the ground to hold plastic in place. i also put concrete blocks down in the corners and down one edge to hold it in place while i pull toward other side

Go to a mobile home supply house. They have everything you need and I think the insulation is no longer itchy but you can ask. There is some that comes in wrapped plastic also.

Spray foam (not from a can)sounds like the logical choice. The area Snap-on & Matco tool trucks & trailers use Icenene. The same stuff I have for insulation in one of my shops. It also serves as a vapor barrier,so no plastic sheeting is needed. The guys came out w/their truck & did it in 3 hrs.Where are you? I'll help you find a dealer.~brad

I'd still use spun-glass..... ..If your joist are on 16" centers, use stiff wire about 16 1/4 inches to hold the insulation between the joist.....put a wire every 4 feet or so.....this works pretty good, and will probably be cheaper than foam.....I wouldn't worry about replacing the black fabric..... oh yea....you can put the paper side down....
