i am in need of a rebuild kit for a briggs vertical shaft engine model 287707 type 022501 can anybody help me .. there has to be somebody that has this exact kit

just an fyi i have found several sites that deal in hard to find small engine parts .. if they pan out and i get what i want or need i will post them here for all to see if that is not a problem

Not sure they make kits like you want. The cost of parts and labor are going to make a short block look pretty good I expect. The short block will have all the high wear parts new, and will give better service for your money than any rebuild job, which may have much more wear than you will see. If it is an all aluminum engine or a kool-bore engine it will be hard to rebuild it with out reboring it to a larger size piston and cylinder. You need to measure all moving parts closely to check for wear tolerance in or out of spec.

i guess that i should just run it till it goes out completly and spend 600 to 800 for a new engine.. but then it would be my luck that that the hydrostastic drive would be next .. might be a good idea to get a new mower lol

just curious when you say rebuild kit, what is your expectations...are you talking rebore/valve/rings the whole nine yards....is this like a 12.5 hp.

can't help as far as havin an overhaul kit, but if yhour lookin to get a cheaper set than your local mower shop, go to napa and give them your engine numbers, and they should be able to get it within a day or two,. in fact the had an extra small engine parts book so i just look up the napa number and call it in...saves me wastin time behind a counter, and the gas...
