Siphon gizmo??

I saw a guy siphoning fuel with about a 3 foot, 1/2 inch clear plastic hose with a ball check valve in one end. All he had to do was put the check valve end in the fuel can and move it up and down a couple of times and the fuel started flowing. He said he got the device at a hardware store in Texas a few years ago and when he went back for another, they said they couldn't get them anymore. Anyone know of a source for this great tool? Our neighbor would make a mad dash to my tractor and siphon out gas when I went over the hill for lunch. One day I waited 5 minutes and drove back over the hill and caught him. I only said one thing to him: "Just remember that I can pick off somebody a mile away with that hot rifle my brother has (he's a gunsmith)." Never missed any more gas after that!

Keep those things away from my neighbors. I already got sucked dry once this fall. If they had those fancy things i would have to sell my tractors and buy horses.

You can do the same thing with your thumb on the end of a siphon hose. Just push hose in to can or tank,place thumb on end of hose as you pull up quickly,remove thumb on downstroke,place thumb on hose for upstroke. About 3or4 times will do,then hold thumb on till you lower that end of hose.

I picked up a gizzmo a few years ago. Had a plastic thingy you squeezws and it started the siphoning motion. When you were thru, you opened a small valve on top of the bulb. Seems I may picked it up at the local TSC store. Works great. Intake is just right for a 5 gal can. I guess if you needed more length on both ends you could adapt a plastic hose to it.

Yeah, they do work great. As long as the empty container is lower than the filled container. The hood on my Case is about 5' high...to high to hold the gas can and pour without a ladder. So now I have to lift the 5 gal can up on the hood and stand on the front axle to use the siphon hose. Well, it does eliminate the funnel.

I first saw those when I worked at a heavy truck dealership a few years ago. I got one and they do work very good. These were called Super Siphon. Siphons should be makeing a big come back since the price of fuel is so high. LOL

A similar device used to be furnished with kerosene heaters to allow you to siphon the fuel from the 5 gallon can into the tank on the heater without making a mess. Might be able to find one at a store that sells kerosene heaters.
