i need to use my brothers trailer tommorrow...problem is there is a funny car on it that has flat racing slicks...anyway we tried putting air in the tire and put in around 40 lbs of pressure into the tire, but they still stayed flat...my question is do they have some special innertube or valve stem that i should know about? again no air escaped from tire/rim? i hope some one can help me with advice...thanks deanop.....

Probably not enough air @ 40 psi. Especially if the tires are really big, which they usually are.

thanks; i figured out the problem..... in reply to jfp, 10-17-2005 06:35:32

i thought the same thing about needing more airs...went back out this mornin and found that you have to loosen a nut on the stem, and turn the valve stem...turns out the slicks are not holding air now...oh well-its gonna look funny with rally wheels on it...

If I remember most slicks only run 5-10 psi. Years ago a guy in a nearby town was airing up the slicks on a friends dragster and started daydreaming while the pressure was building-ended up exploding the tire and the rim took off the top half of his skull on the way out the door. Skinny rally tires are definitely the preferred option.
