The 5,000 BTU AC I have won't cool my small workshop in hot temps. I'm thinking of putting in a 10,000 BTU unit - or could I just install another 5,000 BTU unit and run both?? Anybody every use two AC units in a single room?

After due consideration, I ordered the 10,000 BTU unit from homely depot online - 'cause they have free shipping from now until Jan. 8th. on orders over $49. Being the off season, most places won't have them in stock again until next spring and I want to get it installed now while I'm doing a little remodeling in the workshop.

It would be less expensive to operate one 10,000 BTU A/C as opposed to two 5,000 BTU units.

As an "average" based upon the "average" amount of insulation, you can use 1 Ton of A/C (12,000 BTU's) per 500 sq ft. Thus a 10,000 BTU will do approx. 400 Sq Ft. Please bear in mind, there are a number of variables, but that formula is a general rule of thumb.

Figure up the cubic feet and then you'll know what size unit for sure. They make window units that cool and also heat.

I dont see any problem with that if the wiring, etc is up to snuff. I have see houses with 2 or 3 window units.

I would think that a single 10,000 btu would be less expensive to operate than 2 5,000 units.
