I'm rebuilding a Dewalt GA radial arm saw. It's a single phase, 3HP, 14" saw. I'd like to use a recoil wire (like telephone cord) to go from the motor to the back of the arm. I need 12 gauge and I can find it for $100+. I can also find a coiled pigtail for 18 wheelers that has 7 wires (6-12g and 1-10g). Would it make any difference if I cut one of those up? - Same gauge of wire, just more of it and a lot cheaper. Thanks.

I checked the electric coil cables I have. One is 16 ga. three wire about 2 feet long not streched, with a 120V grounding plug on one end. The other is 12 ga. about 3' long and not coiled as tite with no plugs and a little weathered.
I would ship you one of them for $15.00 postage paid if you want it.

Im thinking it should work without problems. Its still 12 awg and its not going over very long of a distance.I would install it without worry. There is a great variation in types of insulation but I dont see what could cause any problem here.

Certainly, the semi wire would work, but to make it safe and legit, is there a voltage rating stamped on the cable? If there is not, and you use it, it will be at your own risk!
