Pressure washer messed up

I have a Devilbiss pressure washer with a Honda engine on it. The operating instructions say not to leave the engine running for more than a minute without spraying water.

It worked great for a few months, but now when I start the engine, I have no water pressure for about 10 or 15 minutes. The water runs out in a slow dribble, but without pressure until it runs for the 10 or 15 minutes, then it seems to work okay.

Any ideas?

Had a problem simular to that with mine. Started turning the water on before I start the washer, seems to work fine now.

We had one of these at work. The pressure blew the o-ring at the piston to the head, and the pressure recirculating soon damaged the cylinder head and the piston bore.

Hey Tom,
I bought one of those washers from "Sam's Club." I had the same problem, took it back, got another, same problem, took it back and got my money back.
The Devilbiss company sent me a recall notice of a defective spray handle, but I had already gotten my money back. I also emailed the company about the cheap, plastic hose connectors on the washer and they sent me some brass connectors.

Just a thought and I am proably way off, but is it vapor locking on you. I know that mine does it once in awhile and scarred me the first couple times it happened. Mike

i would inspect the pressure releif valve. it may be sticking or broken spring.lucas
