My son went there for the Body/Paint school---liked it pretty well, is now working in a body shop, repainting cars, makes good money.
I can"t say that going to school there got him his job, because the first couple of jobs he had after school were as a painter"s helper----but, going to school there did put him on the "short track" to becoming a painter, once they found out he could actually paint cars....

We have hired a number of WYO Tech grads where I work & all of them have been well trained before they came to us. We would like to get more to come & join us.
We have hired 2 from UTI & 1 has been worthless & the other is ok. It seems that Uti is not structured enough & makes it too easy to let students fail & able to retake classes (read party instead of school.
We have tried to recruit from FVTC in Wi but no luck yet.

I'm in the machine tool program at FVTC, it's a very good school to learn the trade. I've been working at a small machine shop for 3 1/2 years now, got the job through a work-release type class in high-school(Kaukauna H.S.). What type of guys are you trying to get?

Well, here's my opinion. I went to the local technical college for diesel mechanics. Took me 2 1/2 years. You go at your own pace and and if you didn't learn something the first time, they will gladly go back and reteach it to you. It costs about $3000 total, plus books and tools. As far as are they as good as wyotech, nashville college, or uti, it all depends on the instructor. A far as would I do it over again, I'm not sure, not many companies at all are impressed with a diesel mechanic diploma, it seems to be one of those career fields that are learned from experience. It mainly impresses big companies(cat, baker hughes, halliburton, john deere). As a newbie mechanic, you can expect $9 to $10 an hour. In my neck or the woods, you could go straight out of high school and start on a land drilling rig at $15 sweating just as much as a mechanic and not having to buy any tools.

I have a friend who went there a couple years back. It wasn"t cheap, but he learned alot. He now works for a big const. outfit repairing the big Cat bulldozers and whatnot. Plus now I have somebody to fix my diesel tractors. Rich

my son looked at wyo tech for diesels. alot of his buds went there said a lot slower life there. he ended up going to nadc (nashville auto diesel college). nashville tenn. a lot of partys and im sure a lot more then he ever told me about. nashville in certain parts can get pretty scary crime wise. money wise wyotech and nashville comperable time etc. live in norhtern il. wyo tech did not have the penn campus yet so mi away pretty close but he ended up choosing nadc and was veyr ahppy w/it teachers results. (got good paying job) they dindt help him a lot getting a job bu the had the knowledge and talked the talk walked the walk and got r done. my son considered uti (universal tech institute) in chicago (as well as very many other areas but chicago would have been where he went and for diesels at least (only part we looked at their facilities were horrible teachers unknowledgeable. good luck stick with it. make sure your dedicated and maybe want to go to a community college and go to school 3 days a week work 2 spread it out over 2 years.

My son went to Wyotech, took diesel and auto plus the business course, was recruited by Carmax, been working for 2 years, is just turning 21 and is making $26 an hour flat rate pretty good for a 20 year old, school is very good in my opinion, was impressed by school, but you have to be dedicated to go there. Good luck.

Ya gotta start sum were and that would give ya a head start along with sum benefits on discount tools iffin ya kin aford'em even at haft price. I spent a whole 3 weeks in local community auto course (1974) It wuz to slow fer sumone who wuz going to be a mechanic it wuz and still izz set up for minority’s and G.I. Joes to collect government money. I have no problem with continuing education and no problem with service men collecting the money if they are their to learn and not fer the money. Government money slows down the hole process. My new name fer the local collage izz Tinker Tech. Hopefully they are a good school and iffin you are not cut out fer the trade will tell ya so then you kin find sumthing that izz rite fer ya and not take yer money are ya dads as my local Tinker Tech does. Bad thing ‘bout local Tinker tech izz you could really learn the trade iffin they were not trying to drag it out for 2 years.

My son wanted to go next summer, but decided that it was too expensive ($28000)for him. It is a good school, but what your paying for is the name and reputation. The education you get is the same as what you would get at anyother tech school and this came directly from his recruiter.

My neighbor went there - graduated about two or three years ago. (I think he's about 23 or 24) He has always said it was a great school.
