i have a 96 dodge dokata pickup. witha v-6 engine, It will not idle at times, the check engine light doesn't always come on durning this problem. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Replace the Idle Air Control valve . Very common item on Dodges.

Oldallisman, Before you spend any money on that thing, try this. 1.set parking brake, 2.start engine, 3. put transmission in drive, 4. let it idle for about three minutes. This resets the idle speed in the engine controller. This works on my 92 model. Happens after dead battery every time. A service manager told me this little trick. I hope this helps. Steve.
