About 6 weeks ago, I purcahsed a Poulan 18 inch "Wild Thing" chain saw. Works quite well so far. However the automatic chain oiler seems to have quit oiling. When I remove the chain bar and look behind it where the little oil orifice is located, I hardly see any oil there and it seems like the chain is dry. I look inside the oil reservour and it seems to stay full indicating that it doesn't dispense any oil. Anyone else have this problem, is there an easy fix, or is there and adjustment that needs to be done that I am not aware of. Any help would be appretiated.

I don't have your saw but my Stihl did same thing

I got careless about cleaning the sawdust off the oil filler cap

the big chips get stopped by the screen, the real fine stuff pumps thru but that in-between stuff plugged intake side of the oil pump

toss a cheap paintbrush in with your saw file and clean the cap good before you take it off

More than likely you have an oiler gear stripped. they are $15.00 tops, it takes about 15 minutes to change out, take bar off, there is a little metal plate, under the metal plate is the oiler, check out the gear and see if it stripped, they are plastic so they do not hold up real well under a lot of use.

probably badly made filter. Take the filter off & rev up the saw (it won't oil while its idling) & watch the oil hole. If oil squirts out, its the filter. If not its the pump & thats some serious work.

I have a Poulan Pro that quit oiling. It was about 4 years old at the time. Repair (New Pump) was 13 dollars parts installation and tax. Yours being new should have some warranty.

George, I had that problem several years ago with a Poulan Micro. I had to tear my way into the oil resevoir and clean the pick-up sponge/filter thing.
It was packed up with sawdust if I remember right. Saw oiled fine after that.
