Adding Oil to Floor Hoist ?

My neighbor has one of those rolling floor hoists (with a long, telescopic boom) that I borrow occasionally to lift a tractor engine etc. Over the years, it has been leaking fluid near the "jack" area through the seal there on that little pump sleeve (in the on-off lever) area. Last week, I used it and it barely made the lift of a Ford transmission so I suspect it needs fluid added (as well as the seal replaced). The neighbor doesn't have the original owners manual so I'm here asking. There only seems to be one possible place and that is the place where it's leaking. The big end of the cylinder has a large nut there too but somehow I don't think it would be added there. Anyone out there walk me through how I add hydraulic fluid to this thing?

Does the cylinder have a rubber plug about 1/3 way down the side? If so, this is the fill plug.

If its a newer hoist it is a chinese jack with that stinky oil in it. Probably just use regular hydraulic jack oil.

I'd get the ok from the neighbor first, that way if something goes wrong..... ...

DO NOT unscrew the top hex on the jack, you will have a mess on your hands.
