The greese that comes in new drill motors, angle grinders, and such seems to get thrown out of the gears. I've heard that there is a special purpose lubricant that sticks in there better. Can anyone tell me a brand name and number that is sold in small quantities.

Have tried repacking with the normal #2 grease we use around the farm but it won't run/melt into the gears, just as bad as the original stuff. I tried #1 molly grease and it works well, just a little heat from the tool will soften it so it flows into the gears. Was worried that it might make the gear case leak under continuous use ( hot) but has not been a problem.

You might try something like "CV joint Grease"
The good stuff is Molly based.
Land Rover/Range Rover has a more liquid form they use in their front CVs. It might flow back onto the gears better than the thick stuff typically found at German car parts places.

I tried to be nice to an old angle grinder because it had run for years with no complaints. So, I cleaned out all of that dried grease and filled it with new. Put it back together and ran it a few and reached up and touched the gear case and it was so hot it burnt my hand. I had to clean it out again, I think I took about half of it out and put in about a tablespoon of 30 wt oil. That did the trick for me. TYLTK L8R----Fred OH
