I may need to transfer up to 100 gallons of gas from a boat tank, It would be easiest to pump it back into the bulk tank close by, thereby eliminating fooling with cans and or drums.
So far, people I ask for advice on types of pumps or other procedures are afraid, don't know,or are afraid, lol

Can I use a junked 12v fuel pump with a long fuel line? how much of a lift can I expect?, and just how much fuel can a fuel pump pump, :), like in gallons per hour, or is there a better alternative? Thanks, I know you guys can help.

I'd use the 12v fuel pump if you already have one. After all, it is a fuel pump. Make sure it has a good electical connections and the pump is grounded ie NO sparks. I'd hook it up to the boat fuel line and run the outlet hose to the tank. Flow will depend on the capacity of the pump and the height of the lift. I've lifted 15ft with one of these, no problem. 100 gal is a lot of fuel to move, may want to give the pump a break every 10 min or so

Farm supply stores sell explosion proof electric pumps for fuel that will pump 5 to 10 gallons a minute.

The last thing I would mess with is anything that could generate a spark.
Having said that, I pulled 35 gals of gas out of my boat. The tank is built in. I took off the gas line at the pickup tube, I push on and clamped a 5/8" I think Tygon tube...about 15' long, used a couple of strokes with a manual oil change pump to start the syphon and filled up the gas cans. As one filled, I clamped the tygon tube shut with vice grips and got another one. 5/8 tubing syphons really fast. Took a bit of time to figure out how to do it but if I had to do it again..35 gals...30 minutes.
