Question about replies to Drs weird wrench post

Hey guys, I just read the post from the other day concerning weird open end wrenches. The consensis seemed to be that Dr needed a crows foot wrench, and considering what he was talking about doing that seemed to be a pretty good suggestion. One of the posts said that "if you need a different angle turn the wrench over". Now all of the crows foot wrenches I've ever seen have had the square hole broached with two of it's sides parallel with the actual drive hole. Just like the one in the pic. This being the case no matter which way the wrench was turned, "right side up" or "upside down" it's always gonna be at the same angle relative to the handle of the drive tool, unless your using a ratchet. My question is this... Was this just a "misstatement" or does somebody make a set with the square hole not lined up with the drive hole? If so please post who makes them and where I might be able to find a set. I've run into many times when I couldn't get an actual ratchet on one of them, usually due to height restrictions, and had to use a breaker bar. Having another set with the holes at a different angle would be a handy thing to have. Thanks, Wayne

Thanks for the replys. I've seen the ones like the pic Charles posted, I've just never thought about them having the same indexibility as anything else that's 12 point. I've got so many tools now between the shop and my service truck and see so many others that I'd like to have because I've seen a great use for them once or twice that I can't keep up with all of it anymore. I guess now I'll just have to find an inexpensive set of the 12 pointers to suppliment my standard ones. More tools, More tools :))))))

Another possibility is this, a 12 point line/flare nut crowsfoot.

One other possibility is to leave the other end of the hose disconnected and slide a ratcheting box wrench such as a "gearwrench" down the hose to the fitting, depends on the hose wall thickness.

I have a set of Snap-On crowfoot line wrenches(the kind of wrench that's almost a box end but has an opening to allow the wrench to slip over a hard line like a brake or fuel ling).

Been awhile since I've used them, but if I remember right, they're offset.

yep, my snap-on crowfoot flarenut wrenches are 6 point, and the flats of the 6 point are offset from the drive hole so you can flip them over and get a different angle.

I have sale catalog from harbor freight and it shows picture of a set # 93138. The picture showes them to be offset.. (metric) dunno if they have them in standard. and they are not listed on internet site..

I usually scrounge a few cheapy combo wrenches at garage sales,pawnshops etc.With a little propane heat and a tweak or twist they easily become"specialty" wrenches :)
