Our fire company decided to get some exercise machinery for the troops to use, to keep fit. I suggested doing away with the pop machine as the best way for that, but was taken to task for being so stupid! So, being an itinerant junk collector, i then proceeded to equip the game room with all of the exercise machines that the local yuppies threw out on garbage night! Most of it was in nice shape, but i can't attest to the yuppies condition! Or shape! And now, the machinery just sits in the game room, collecting dust! Oh, one or two guys use it in winter to keep their legs in shape, but everybody else keeps drinking their soda pop!

They are most likely a gimmick. I remember back in the 80"s they did a review on several fitness machines and they were all junk. Then they went on to say and demonstrate that the best thing to have is a set of cast iron dumb bells. I have my set and use them when I get time, and the best thing is that they can be used as tractor weights, dont ask.

Never tried one of these, but I am overweight and after a number of health issues started walking at least 2 miles a day 5 or 6 days a week. Then I decided to do "something" although I don't live near a gym nor would I be inclined to go (perish the thought of an elephant on an exercise machine in public). Okay, I had a cheap treadmill for winters and incliment weather. Wore it out and bought a good one when I determined I was serious. Next I thought I would buy a low end machine--so I bought a "Body by Jake" and used it religiously. It worked well until I outgrew it. I then looked for some other multi station outfit. Bowflex, Crossbow, there are a million. All have good and bad points. I ended up buying a mail order home gym which I am happy with. I tend to use it religiously with the treadmill in incliment weather, but prefer just walking a bit further outdoors in nice weather. My Dr. says if you do one activity, skip the strength and go for walking.

My point is, that with the ab Scissor, I would be skeptical in that it is a single function machine. I think you will get bored with it quickly. I would recommend a multi function multi station home gym of some description. Look for something that does not require a lot of changing between a variety of exercises. I am certainly no expert, and not in great shape, but better than I was--you will probably want to knock off a set of 6 or so exercises in about 20 minutes anywhere from 3-6 times per week unless you really get into body building.

Two recommendations--buy as good as you can afford and go to an excercise equipment store and try a variety of "stuff" out. If you want an Ab Scissor, I would look at garage sales, that is where most of these things, including a lot of Bowflex and the like end up.

My opinion.

Wonderful product if you will use it. If not, it is a wonderful coat and hat rack.

I don't know what an ab scissor is, but what I do know, is most any kind of equipment that has to do with body building, becomes hat and coat racks. Why not go jog, or walk five or ten miles? If the answer is, don't have time, or don't like walking, you will just have another hat and coat rack.
