Horse Trailer Wiring

We just finished building a 1966 Ford truck to haul a gooseneck horse trailer. This will be our first show with this trailer. When we pull into the show grounds, we can plug into their electric but I don't really see anything on the trailer that looks like what used to be on our travel trailers to hook into the electric. What I have on the face of the trailer is a three prong 220/20 amp outlet. Do I need to make an adapter/cord for this?

It's a female plug in one of those all-weather recepatcles. Has two straight up and down blades and one has a horizontal slot on it. Looks like someone did this themselves.

Maybe this trailer at one time housed a generator, and they used it to power an RV? Power out vs. power in.

If you're trying to feed power INTO the trailer, the trailer receptacle should have a male end, not female. The way it's wired now would require a double-male cord - VERY dangerous. Don't do this!

That's kind of what I figured, that someone had a generator and had their own setup made. Since there are no boxes or hatches that open on the side for a wire to come out, perhaps I shold make one to house the new supply wire.

When you say the trailer has an outlet on it, is it a male or female connection? The trailer should have a recessed male, maybe a twist lock plug (curved blades). This would allow a female end of a cord to hook up to the trailer.

Should be a standard RV cord / adapter / plug. Even WallyWorld carries them. If not there, check with an RV dealer.

I was wrong, it is not a 220 outlet, it's a 30 amp 110 outlet.
