Anyone familiar with Bark Buster Log Splitters? Recently ran across one and have not seen one before. It is a three point mounted PTO driven screw type splitter. Has a large cone that is threaded and splits the log from the side not the end. What is one worth?

Thanks,
Tom

They usually sell for about $5-$15 at auctions around here. E-bay brings upwards of $40 for them.

The PTO units are not worth anything if you ask me. Neighbor bought one years ago and put it on an international tractor. The first piece of wood (elm of course) and not very big split the PTO casting. He fixed the tractor and never again tried to use the splitter. Have a nice day

I recently split about 2.5 cords of live oak and pecan with one that I borrowed. They are very dangerous if you do not respect them, however I would not use a hydrostatic unit over this PTO device if I had a choice. If the tractor is strong enough, the bark buster log splitter will work as fast as you can get the logs to the machine. I would like to buy one if I could find it!!!

Does anyone know where I might find a replacement auger cone for one of these? I would be interested in buying a complete splitter if I could find one. If not I was going to build my own if I can buy the auger. I borrowed one this winter and want one of my own.

From the one I seen used they are dangerous to say the least, I would not have one if you gave it to me. Stick with the hyd units
