My old tractor-color and make unimportant- was made before rubber tires. I have a buyer for the steel wheels. I have two hubs that fit the axles, but are different diameter and bolt pattern where they bolt to the wheel. The hubs look the same, takes measuring to show the difference. These hubs are not cast iron, but seem to be good quality cast steel. I plan to get wheels for rubber tires and bolt the wheels to these hubs. Can these hubs be welded up and then machined to match each other on the bolt pattern and diameter of the back disc? My friends say it will work fine. Is this a workable solution or should I try some other solution? My creditors will not be happy if I spend too much on this project.

Hi, I would make an adapter plate from the old bolt holes to the new bolt diameter. I would think 3/4" thick plate would be minmium and 1" or better be best. It would be easy to hold diameter tolerance and balance. Bolt the adapter ring to the hub from the back side.
