Here's one for ya, chain vise grips, made by Vise Grip, It has a wip of chain about 10-12 inchs long, works great on pipe, oil filters, pulleys ect. I sometimes use them when welding to clamp odd shaped things together.

If you have an old tractor and are a weekend warrior - a 3/4" drive socket set is a must. Harbor Freight for $39.95. I know - it's not the best, but when you don't use it a lot, it sure comes in handy. The sockets themselves are worth it for driving bearings and bushings.

Also mandatory is a set of 12, 18 and 24" pipe wrenches. Again for rough occaisional work, inexpesive works fine.

For those of you who have never used an automatic wire stripper, consider getting one. After years of stripping wire with a picket knife, I finally invested $12 in a good professional wire stripper (not a $3 plastic swap-meet special). I am amazed at how it speeds up a wiring job. And while you're at it, spend a buck and a half for a Romex plastic-covering stripper. If I'd bought these two things earlier, I'd have saved hours on wiring -- both house and shop wiring and car/tractor jobs.

When I was younger I used a wire stripper that grabbed and stripped the wire all on its own. It had a built in stop and did a great job. Can't remember where I got them. As far as wrenches, I got myself a set of short box ended 3/8 - 11/16 that I keep in my pockets whenever I'm around trucks, cars, tractors, and stuff.

Torches should have some kind of a time delay that wont let you light them for about an hour after you get
mad at something you are working on.: Terry
