I have several projects that I am considering that would be nice to power with hydraulics. Right now I am using one of the older ford compacts (1500) with a 4gpm pump. I am looking for advice on the following options...or additional ideas also.I could simply buy a pto pump...would need to provide resevoir, relief valve etc built into the projects. I could install a belt driven pump driven from the front of the engine. In this situation I could perhaps use the tractor hydraulic lines either bypassing the installed pump or pulling from the same resevoir. (combination oil sump for axle trans and hydraulics) Or i could install a 2nd onboard resevoir and relief valve. (not sure if I have the room) The last option I would be surprised if it existed would be to see if there is a replacement pump of higher capacity for the original. Unlikely, Japanese, early 80's, and quite built in. Also, it occurs to me that maybe I might just make a stand alone power unit with its own gasoline engine, if I can find a cheap one :-) thanks Kim Hartshorn
