I have a new Craftsman chipper shredder and it will not pull the limbs into the blades. Anybody have aby experience? The machine was several years old and was never fully assembled. No operator's manual Looks like it should work. It has a 10 hp. Engine

If it is a Tomahawk Chipper/Shredder made for Sears, there is a flywheel with two knives and an anvil at the bottom of the limb chute. The clearance between knives and anvil is set by adjusting the anvil in or out. Clearance should be about 1/16th inch. The knives must be sharp with the bevel facing the flywheel. The bevel is what pulls the material in. Doing this from memory, if you need more info email me. Good luck. Pete

I have one of those chippers. Bought it new about ten years ago and have hated it ever since. Green waste? Forget it. Dry waste? Only twigs and leaves will process properly. Forget about branches, although it is supposed to take them through the funnel. I just loaned mine out to a friend and I hope he forgets to return it.
