If you're going to do the wires look at the coil for any grayish/whitish coloration around the frame. If you see that I'd replace it also.

Ignition wires will go bad over time. Even if they look OK, you might want to replace as you approach 100,000 miles. Insulation will break down, and carbon cores tend to break down as well.

Our construction company runs 13 Chevy half ton 4X2s with the 4.3 V6. I'll second the fuel filter needing changed on a regular basis. The other area that seems to be a common problem is the electric fuel pump - never know its a problem titll it quits. Otherwise we normally run them up to 120K to 160K with very little else being done except oil changes - and even that gets spotty some times.

The transmission oil gets FLUSHED on a regular basis - haven't had a half ton trannie fail in 5 years. Our mainteance plan does not call for the pan to ever be dropped - just flushed every 50K.

I would change the fuel filter annually. Those trucks are very picky about fuel pressure and the best thing for them is a clean fuel filter. It's on the frame on the drivers side.

Depends a lot on the mileage. Maybe change the air filter. Otherwise if it aint broke dont fix it.
