OT: Need more Prayers, father in-law has cancer

A few days ago I mentioned below on this thread that where I work is going to relocate. it will be tough. But a few months ago my Father in-law was diagnosed with bladder cancer, I never heard of bladder cancer before. Anyway we have known for a few weeks that he is going to have to have his bladder removed, but here is the kicker. He is a smoker and is 59yrs. old, with lung problems. The doctors dont know if they should operate because his lungs are in such bad shape that he may not be able to survive the surgery of the bladder removal. (kind of dammed if you do dammed if you dont) My wife is somewhat torn up about it. I have a 4 year old boy and I would like to have my son be able to see his grandpa up until he is about 8 or 10 years old so that he will remember him later in life. When I was 5 years old my Great granddad died, I barely remember him. If my Father inlaw died now my son may not remember him...at least my parents are in good health. Its real sad, 40 years ago doctors told you that smoking calms your nerves and was good for you, If those doctors only knew.... Thanks fellas.

Check out www.llumc.com and/or www.protonbob.com Loma Linda University Medical Center and it's proton Beam can rid the body of cancer(s). I'm a three year survivor that I believe CURE is the correct term.

My prayers are with you. I lost my Mom in 1983 due to smoking and my best friend last year due to lung cancer. Sure glad I never smoked anything but an occasional pipe full about once a year. Think I will quit that. I know what it is like to lose a parent to the BIG "C" as John Wayne called it. God bless you and your family.

I'll be adding your paw-in-law to our prayer list. What's his first name? It looks like he's got a few battles to go through before he can win the war but if it's God's will, he'll prevail. Mark made a good point too--if they can give his lungs time to clear up a little his chances could go up. I never knew either of my grandfathers--only my dad's mom. When I see other families with both sets of grandparents around, I see the things I missed. Maybe that's why I have respect for old people and I enjoy listening to their stories and appreciate their wisdom...like I said about my tractor buddy & friend Mr. Frank, who passed away last year, treat the old guys (and gals) with respect and kindness--they deserve it....

F-inlaw name is Anthony, He smokes and he isnt going to quit as far as I know. Thats one main reason his lungs are bad.

sorry to hear about your misfourtune, and yes, you defininately have my prayers. my mom is going through the cancer thing for the second time now.

My father in law had prostate cancer. He was in his high 70's and smoked Camel's all his adult life.

Prior to the operation, the Dr. put him in the hospital and cleaned up his lungs. Then did the prostate.

Worked ok.
