Hi. I have a special test box that I made up for testing appliances and motors ect.. It is a real handy setup.. You can get a fancy or plain as you like. all it really is is #1. a light bulb in series with the test leads Thru switch #1 Switch number two cuts in a 500 W heater element in series with the light bulb . These are also connected to regular outlets in the box so that you can just plug in say a toaster.. turn on the first switch and you can test for grounds using the test leads if grounded it will light the light to full brilliance Throw the second switch and you will have power at a safe level. I also have a Third switch that is wired so that you have full power to the receptical (only) not to the test leads.. Would really be handy for testing those multi coiled motors.. I built mine into a small wooden box about 6X6X14.

Carol.
