House gutters

I'm about to put a new gutter on my garage/shop, a 44' run using aluminum gutters. I seem to remember reading that you could eliminate using the little connectors by snapping the sections together somehow. Has anyone done this and how is it done? I can't call the gutter guys, too far away, plus I already have the material. I had vinyl on there and it was unsatisfactory, warped badly, and pulled apart at the joints.

Just slide one gutter into the next piece of gutter. You actually have to open one up to get the other in. Put the upgrade gutter into the downgrade gutter and overlap about 4 inches with gutter calk applied. Use the screw clamp type hangers on each joint and add a pop rivit or self tappin screw on the top lip of the gutter. Use the screw clamp type hangers at least every 2 feet to hold good grade on the gutter line.

This the "Screw type clamp" I prefer. They can be assembled on the gutter on the ground and then just driven in once the gutter is in place. They are available locally for about 70 cents each.

Yep - the connectors actually increase your odds of drips. Overlap gutter sections 4 to 6", caulk with a product called "Through the roof" and zip screw them together.

Yup and I make slide-in end caps out of wood or rubber and zip screw 'em in with caulk
