Hello,
My sister found this saw in a dumpster where she works and brought it to me to see if it could be fixed. The thing was covered with oily sawdust and the clutch was stuck. I got the clutch freed and cleaned it up. It has good compression and there is very little wear any where on the saw. Which leads me to think It has not seen much use, but there is no spark. Is there a way to test the solid state coil? Does any one know where I might find a used coil(no luck on ebay yet) I hate to buy a new one when I don't even know if the saw is any good yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.....Mike

Thanks JT for your reply. I took the saw apart today and discovered it has points and condenser,not solid state ign. Saw is apparently older than what I thought so now I'm thinking file and set the points and replace the condenser...Anyone know what to set the points at ? Thanks....Mike

You better take any coil you can find for a PM510 McCulloch as the only place you might find part for it is at Wallenberg Sales in Sante Fe California, McCulloch filed bankruptcy a few years back and about the only parts left for the old ones is in dealer stock or these people. The ones being made now are MTD knockoffs using the McCulloch name hoping for brand awareness to help sell product.
