If you had to choose between a new Matco, Snap-on, or John Deere 3/8" cordless impact, what would you go with? Matco and JD have the best prices, but I'm a bit concerned about how they'll last, being that they've only been around for a few months.

Been useing snap-on's 18 volt impact and drill. Have a 120 volt charger and a 12 volt charger for the battery packs. They work great might be a bit pricey but the warranty is great. Also have 18 volt small air compresser for the same Battery packs. Have inflated 16" tires. The Impact will remove the lugs off my 3/4 ton. Nice unit's

I would go with none of the above. I have a Dewalt 12 volt 3/8 square drive cordless impact that I use daily at work for light to medium duty repair tasks. It has proven to be durable and a battery will last at least one shift. It has good balance and feel, and has a small overall size which is good for under dash tasks. I would also look into the new IR 3/8 cordless impact. Remember that a cordless impact won't be as capable as its air powered brother but, it's nice not to be tied to a hose.

I've looked at the new IR cordless impacts and to me they are the most user friendly one I've held, they have a more natural feel than the other brands. I have a Milwaukee 18v 1/2" drive cordless impact and it's great but it's also heavy. Milwaukee has a 5 year warranty on all of their power tools and they have a proven reputation yet they really aren't priced higher than the other brands. For a 3/8" cordless impact I would be looking at the Milwaukee, Makita or Ingersol Rand.
