Don't let it get to you too much, your reputation isn't tarnished. That's another nice thing about this forum---what gets started here gets settled here; anybody who reads part of the story will almost certainly read all of the story. How many other places in life is that true?

Your generosity and expertise speak for themselves. Someone's mistaken assumption and surprisingly uncivil attack don't diminish that. Besides, who would you rather be, the subject of some mistaken slander, easily set right, or the mistaken slanderer? (I know it's called libel when it's in writing, but I'm trying to make a different point here.)

By the way, I'm an (aspiring) metal artist myself. I'm going to have to become a lot less scatterbrained to ever accomplish more than personal satisfaction in that medium, but I really love it.
