I inherited an older model XL-12. The serial number is 490780141. Questions:

What"s the model year?
When did Homelite make this saw red?
What is the engine displacement?

I have a XL12 bought about 1970, manual oiler. The engine displacement is either 3.2 or 3.5 cubic in and the color is red. I'll check the tag later, still looks and runs great plus plenty of power great saw.

My>Link father had an XL-12 back in the late 70"s and I remember it being a lightweight saw that did a good job. It looks like the saws have been made since the 60"s, but I have no information on the serial number.

I bought my XL-12 brand new in 1969. It is blue and always has been. Great little saw. It's been everywhere including being packed into the mountains to clear trails. Still use it occasionally. The only problem I ever had with it was the gas line got so old it deteriorated an fell apart.
