Metal roof pitch

I am putting up a carport type shelter for my vehicles, using 20' long metal roofing. How little pitch can I get away with. I am in southern New England, we can get up to two ft. of heavy wet snow. I am using rafters on 16" centers.

I recommend a minimum of 4/12. Metal roofs work well at much less pitch, but leaves may stick and stay in place. That will rapidly rust the roof. Snow will initially stick to 4/12, but will slide off as it begins to melt. Don't try to walk on a wet metal roof!

I made my pole barn roof 5/12. I live in centralNY and we too can get a lot of snow if the wind comes across lake Ontario right. At that pitch the snow slides off when it gets to a certain depth. I also recomend generous overhangs.
