The growler gets it's name from the noise it makes. Lay the armature on the growler (with it growling) and bring a steel object near the armature. The flat side of a hacksaw blade works well. If the armature attracts the steel, the armature has a short in the windings. Replace or rewind. I suggest turning the armature about 1/4 turn until the armature has been rotated completely and test those four times. The turning may not be absolutely necessary. If you decide you want to sell the thing contact me. I do not have one.
