first thing I do is find out if DSL is available. usually you need to be within 18000ft of the phone company office or fiber cabinet that can handle DSL. try verizons website the may have a place for you to enter your phone number to find out if it is available at you home

I had dsl service through verizon but I had NOVA for an internet service provider (instead of verizon) I liked my dsl very well but I know a couple people that had trouble having verizon as their ISP. I have since moved and dsl not offered here so I have comcast cable. I like it even better. Do you have to have a phone line for uploads on dish? If so I bet dsl would be a lot faster for you.

There is a catch or hook to everything in life. If its cheaper, there is probably a reason.

I'm not a verizon user, can't help you there. But the $60 mo is not too far out of line in my thinking. I'm using Charter Cable broadband and with the least possible cable TV service (about $9 of the monthly bill) I'm paying a total of $50 per month and I don't watch TV (and all it is is local channels, public TV, religious, hispanic and a couple of other odd ball channels. nothing worth watching like Discovery or History channels.
